Galle Coastal Discovery
Historic Galle Fort Exploration – One of the best-preserved colonial forts in Asia is the Dutch Fort of Galle. Each visitor’s Instagram photo and caption tell a different story about this UNESCO World Heritage site. Today the fortress has been transformed into a breathtaking romantic scene where guests are free to get lost in the stories. Spend some time exploring the ramparts and the lighthouse’s narrow cobblestone streets. Several historical sites, including the oldest breadfruit tree on the island can be found within the citadel. A notable collection of marine artefacts located for the duration of underwater explorations of shipwrecks alongside the southern coast may be found at the National Maritime Museum which is housed in a seventeenth-century Dutch warehouse.
Peaceful Madu River Cruise – A tranquil trip through verdant mangroves and placid waters can be had on a Madu River cruise in Balapitiya. A tranquil and engrossing experience in nature, passengers can take in the natural beauty, observe wildlife such as birds and monkeys and explore small islands.
Turtle Conservation Journey – See the turtle hatchery in Kosgoda beach strip where eggs are gathered from fishermen and are incubated for some time before being released into the ocean. Six of the seven species of sea turtles are threatened with extinction. The greatest extent of it is a result of human exploitation of the environment. Fortunately, this hatchery has assumed responsibility for their protection.
Unawatuna Beach Serenity- Popular for its relaxed atmosphere, Unawatuna is a stunning cove surrounded by palm trees on the southern shore. It’s perfect for a day trip because it’s packed with people, has lots of restaurants and bars, and is open at the optimum time of day.
